JEDU School Future Proofs Graduates with OPERA Cloud PMS Training

For JEDU, an acclaimed Finnish vocational school, nothing is more important than preparing future hotel staff to deliver exceptional service.

And with future hotel employers demanding graduates be tech savvy to capitalize on latest innovations to meet guest needs, JEDU knew it needed to provide its students the power of cloud.

That's why JEDU selected Oracle Hospitality's OPERA Cloud as its property management system.

The next-generation iteration of OPERA - the industry's leading property management system trusted by hoteliers, large and small - OPERA Cloud was an easy choice, according to school officials. In addition to the solution's comprehensive features and capabilities, OPERA Cloud's lineage ensured that JEDU students were well-versed with one of the most-recognized platforms in the market, improving their employment opportunities.

The educational institute is the most well-known organization for vocational training in the southern region of Oulu and plays a key role in the development of its economy. Managed by a coalition of 13 municipalities, JEDU operates in seven locations across Finland. Approximately 3,000 students are enrolled in JEDU, training for careers in a variety of fields, including tourism and service, agriculture and forestry, and health and wellness. In Vocational Qualification in Tourism industry, JEDU Kalajoki educate students for travel agents, hotel desk clerks or tourism activities organizers. More than 70 percent of JEDU hospitality graduates land positions in the region.

"Our job is to make sure our graduates get jobs," said JEDU official Esa Siirilä. "The fact that so many hoteliers around the world use Oracle solutions was instrumental in our selection of OPERA Cloud PMS. We want our students to train with the same systems they'll use in the real world. That's the best preparation we can give them."

In a world where extraordinary change occurs in a blink of an eye, it's vital for hoteliers to be able to reimagine operations, not just take incremental steps. Adapting to such change - even anticipating it - requires property management systems have the capability to efficiently integrate "best-of-breed" innovations that enhance business and improve service. It's simply impossible for any one vendor to be an expert in every emerging technology. That's why JEDU officials embraced Oracle Hospitality's philosophy of creating a diverse ecosystem of integration partners who "eat, sleep and breathe" their respective specialties. Their singular focus enables them to not only be the best in their field but constantly extend development boundaries to create better solutions. Through Oracle's open APIs, they can deliver their new innovations - and a steady stream of new opportunities - to hoteliers.

"It's essential for our students to understand the importance of technology that accelerates innovation and the impact it has on the guest experience," said JEDU official.

Likewise, JEDU officials said OPERA Cloud's impact on nearly every facet of hotel operations - from creating rich guest profiles to gleaning business insights from reporting and analytics to optimizing housekeeping - ensures their students are well-rounded and capable of performing just about any hotel task.

For JEDU, using OPERA Cloud doesn't just represent a way for hoteliers to future-proof their business. It's a way to future-proof its graduates.
